Owning Land in the Pikaverse
Disclaimer: the information set out in this article is speculative and subject to change as the project develops over time. We do intend to fully deliver on this roadmap.
Pika keys will be airdropped to Perky Pika holders that have their NFT unlisted at the time of the airdrop snapshot. Each Perky Pika will have a 50% chance of receiving a pika key (likely higher than 50% given some will be listed at the time). In total, 555 Pika keys will be minted and distributed.
The team will set up a candy machine for minting and will distribute mint tokens in advance. Each token will allow for a single mint and will be consumed.
The community were given the opportunity to name the towns that will be created in game and the following names were chosen:
There will be 8 towns of 62 land plots totaling 496 plots and 59 land plots in the capital: Pikaton. Pikaton land plots will be awarded to pre sale buyers (as promised at the time), OGs, and a small number may be held in reserve for future comps/rewards.
The key NFTs will have metadata pertaining to a specific town and land plot: this will tell you the location of your new home!
Following the mint we will add additional discord verification that will assign you the role as a citizen of one of the towns. This will allow us to set up channels for each town and to run competitions and engagement in future: you will also get to meet your neighbours!
Purpose and use of land plots
Within the game, we will zone out each land plot and integrate it with your NFT. If you hold the pika key, you alone will be able to build and customize your land plot!
The game will be a skill levelling game so there will be many uses, for example:
- As a place to store excess inventory items (there will be a bank in many towns, but it’s more convenient to have everything you need on hand)
- As a space to build and upgrade workbenches for crafting (oven for cooking, anvil for smithing etc)
Two of the more interesting upgrades are:
- Barn: this places a limit on the quantity and type of pets/mounts you have have in game
- Greenhouse: enter to visit your own little farm patch!
Houses will be modular, starting with a living room. You will be able to extend and add a kitchen, workshop, additional floors etc that each provide additional utility
We plan on locking certain items to specific rooms: you will only be able to place a stove or fridge in the kitchen for example. If you want to be able to level up your cooking skill from the comfort of your home then you will need to unlock the kitchen upgrade.
We plan for workbenches and storage to be upgradable: if you meet the level requirements and upgrade you will be able to store more and craft higher rarity items!
And what will drive all of these upgrades? You guessed it! LEAF coin!
Houses and Breeding
In order to get access to the breeding mechanic, you will need to hold 2 Perky Pika NFTs and a Pika Key in the same wallet. We will discuss the precise mechanics of this further in future medium articles.
At first, many of you will hold multiple houses and many pikas to breed. There will be a real concentration in ownership. There will be a maximum of 555 baby pikas brought into the world each cycle.
We will likely want to reduce that concentration and allow others to enjoy some of the mechanics included in this post so we can add functionality such that if you add additional floors/rooms you can breed multiple baby pikas per cycle.
